Flu cases skyrocket in Poland, causing medicine shortages, rising fatalities

Poland's flu season has been exceptionally severe, with Poles enduring a sharp rise in infections and an alarming number of deaths.

Flu cases surged by several hundred per cent, leading to widespread shortages of antiviral medications in pharmacies. Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector Łukasz Pietrzak reported that in January, sales of these medicines increased by over 335% compared to the same period last year.

However, the shortage situation is gradually improving. “We can confirm that 148,000 packs of flu medication are now available in pharmacies and wholesalers,” the Ministry of Health told Euractiv.
