At least 89 people have died in a week from severe winter weather across large parts of the United States, CBS News reports.

It is noted that 25 people died in Tennessee and at least 16 in Oregon, including three in a car on which a tree fell.

Weather-related deaths were reported this week in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Washington, Kentucky, Wisconsin, New York and New Jersey.

Cold weather, strong winds, snowfall and ice have affected areas in the United States, where tens of millions of people live.
