A magnitude 6.5 earthquake rocked Afghanistan on Tuesday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The epicenter was located 48 kilometers southwest of the city of Ishkashim with a population of more than 12,000.
USGS said the quake was centred near Jurm in northeastern Afghanistan and had a depth of 187 kilometers (116 miles).
Afghanistan is frequently hit by earthquakes, especially in the Hindu Kush mountain range, which lies near the junction of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
