The work of the firefighters (Vigili del Fuoco) continues in Ischia for the search for the missing and to help the population. 185 firefighters operate on the island, including divers, topographers, speleology teams, USAR, COEM, drone operators and earth-moving equipment management experts (29 November 2022)
The balance is 8 confirmed victims, 4 still missing, over 200 displaced people.
Firefighters are digging through mud and debris on the Italian island of Ischia for a fourth day straight, as they search for four people still missing after a landslide swept away the side of a mountain last week. Eight people have been found dead, among them a three-week-old infant and his parents.

"The history of Ischia has been marked several times by environmental tragedies also due to illegal building".
President Iganzio La Russa said this in the Senate Hall during the commemoration of the victims of the Ischia flood.
"It is not the first time - he recalls - that this marvelous land, known throughout the world for its natural beauty and the hospitality of its people, has been hit in such a violent way. But this is not and should not be the location nor now is the time to look for those responsible. It will be the Authorities in charge of ascertaining the facts".
"This - continues the president - is the moment of condolences and of the strong and sincere closeness that the Senate Chamber today wants to render to the relatives of the victims, to the wounded, to the displaced. To anyone who lost someone or something that night. Leave me alone. also thank the many people of the Civil Protection, the Fire Brigade, the Armed Forces, the Police Forces and the simple volunteers who have committed themselves without sparing efforts from the very first moments: who with the means and tools provided and who with bare hands. Many have done and are still doing everything to ensure that this tragedy has less important numbers. Our gratitude goes to all of them".
