No Risk of Oil Spill From Pemex Tanker on Fire in Mexican Gulf

A loaded oil tanker that caught fire on Saturday presents no risk to the environment, the company, which owns the tanker, said Saturday.

According to Pemex, a state-run oil company, its tanker "Burgos" was specifically designed to carry oil and the way it was constructed eliminated any spill danger.

The crew was evacuated from the ship, the company tweeted earlier.

The fire occurred off the coast of Veracruz state in eastern Mexico.
