A heatwave will bring summer temperatures to Egypt this weekend, with the mercury reaching a scorching 40 degrees in Cairo on Friday.
The low in Cairo is expected to be 20 degrees on Friday, Egypt's Meteorological Authority said, while Alexandria will be slightly cooler with a high of 36 and a low of 16.
The Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh will see a high of 40 degrees and a low of 32, while Hurghada, also on the Red Sea, will see a temperature range of 37 to 22.
"Winds carrying sand and dust are also forecast across the country, with light rainfall predicted in central and southern Sinai and some regions in the country's southern flank," the statement read.
The heatwave is expected to last until Monday.
