Two people were killed on April 4 after they became trapped under rubble when a wall collapsed in a park in central Istanbul.
A total of seven people were reportedly trapped under the debris. Five were rescued and transferred to various hospitals. However, search-and-rescue teams eventually reached the lifeless bodies of another two.
Meanwhile, Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin said the cause of the collapse was being investigated.
Gülhane Park – a popular location for tourists and locals alike – is a historical urban site overlooking the Bosphorus Strait located on the grounds of the city’s Topkapı Palace.
