At nuclear power plants next to New York there was a leak of radioactive material

Radioactive materials found in groundwater near a nuclear power plant Indian Point just north of New York City. It is reported by Associated Press with reference to the eponymous state Governor Andrew Cuomo.

In water samples according to Cuomo it revealed the presence of tritium. The governor assured that the danger of this problem is to human health. The incident he added will be to investigate the environmental services.

In May of 2015 as a result of fire at one of the Indian Point transformers in the Hudson River got transformer oil. In November 2010 one of the nuclear power transformers occurred explosion which caused an emergency stop reactor.

Indian Point nuclear power capacity of more than two thousand megawatts located in Buchanan – about 50 kilometers north of New York City. The station provides a quarter of the energy consumed by New York and its suburbs.

At the plant three units. The first one closed in 1970 due to a mismatch of safety requirements.
