Two large fires in Lake County, California merged on Tuesday as authorities were not able to contain them, according to local media reports.
ABC News 10 KXTV Sacramento reported the Rock and Jerusalem Fires in Lake County merged growing up to more than 12,000 acres.
California officials explained the two, originally separate fires will retain their individual names and will be managed by a single incident command unit.
The merging of the two fires, officials added, might make it easier for firefighters to put out the fire in due time.
On late Sunday afternoon, the Jerusalem Fire took shape in Lake County while the Rocky Fire has been going since July 29.
The latter fire has been contained on 88 percent of its course, but it burned 69,636 acres in the Lake, Yolo and Colusa counties.
