KIEV, February 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine will fulfill its obligations for uninterrupted and accident-free gas transit and energy supply to consumers in countries of the European Union and the Customs Union, says a report of the press service of the Ukrainian government with a reference to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Boiko.

“No political problems in the country should interfere with Ukraine’s fulfilling its obligations to the international economic community in the sphere of energy and other areas,” Boiko said.

He has said the situation in the energy market is under government control and reserves of petrol and diesel fuel are enough to meet demand for over three weeks.

Gazprom reported earlier that Russian gas is transported to Europe via Ukraine’s territory in a usual regime despite the aggravation of the situation and rioting in the country.

Itar-Tass reported earlier that Ukraine in January 2014 increased gas transit over its territory to West European countries by 380 million cubic metres (5.3 percent) as compared with January 2013 to reach 7.4 billion cubic metres.

Gazprom exported 14.7 billion cubic metres of gas to Europe in January 2014.
