7.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Iran-Iraq border region
Powerful 7.2 Magnitude Quake Occurs on Iran-Iraqi Border.
The tremors were felt by many countries in the Middle East  and been felt as far away as Turkey, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

It initially said the quake was of a magnitude 7.2, before revising it to 7.3

Iranian state media said it was felt in several provinces, with eight villages damaged and electricity cut.

Kurdish TV also said many people in Iraqi Kurdistan fled their homes when it struck but there were no initial reports of casualties.
