7.0 magnitude earthquake strikes Japan again. Tsunami warning issued by authorities (Depth 10 km)

A day after nine people were killed in an earthquake that struck a city in Japan, the countries is hit by a new and powerful earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale. Tsunami warning has been issued by the authorities in Japan with waves of up to 1m (3ft) possible.

According to US Geological Survey department the earthquake measured 7.0 on Richter scale, that struck near Kumamoto, Kyushu, Japan on Friday evening.

The epicentre of the earthquake is noted at 4 miles (6 km) SSE of Kumamoto, Kyushu, Japan; 47 miles (76 km) E of Nagasaki, Kyushu, Japan; 60 miles (97 km) WSW of Oita, Kyushu, Japan; 388 miles (624 km) SE of SEOUL, South Korea, reports US Geological Survey.

  • Today’s earthquake which is noted to be a powerful one had struck a day after 6.2 magnitude earthquake that shook southern Japan’s Kyushu Island, killing 9 people and more than 800 were injured. The residents of the city remained in fear after Thursday as two more tremors were felt in last 24 hours.
On Thursday at least nine people died and more than 800 were reportedly injured by the quake that toppled many structure and sparked fire. Officials near the epicentre reportedly said that the tremors were felt for more than 30 seconds. However the Japan’s meteorological department told there there were no immediate threat for Tsunami
